Comments: I was on the Okie deployment when we lost Lt.Jeffries and Commander Dobler. I was with the detail in Taipei. I wish I could help with your trying to get in touch with the Lt.'s family. Maybe the Chapel at CBC Gulfport could help? Commander Dobler has a Memorial there. I visited it back in 87. BU3 Townsend NMCB 133 73-77. Hope this helps.

Comments: I was a Marine assigned to Marine Barracks, Subic Bay, RP, during 1973 - 1974. I knew a Seabee Lieutenant, Charles H. Jeffries. I was assigned to Headquarters Company when he and two other Seabee officers (Commander and Captain) were killed by unidentified terrorists on our base perimeter while they were inspecting a road. I realize it has been a long time; however, I would like to contact any surviving family members and give them a letter or brief phone call, which would summarize some things about Lieutenant Jeffries that they would probably appreciate. I also was friends with their Corpsman (PO1) who was a good man and had previously served with the Marines in Viet Nam as a Corpsman. Both men were members of Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 133 and I believe their detachment was "Detachment Wallaby."
Thank you in advance for your assistance in this matter.
Semper Fidelis,
Jon E. Lopey, COL (USAR - RET) Mt. Shasta, CA
